Curves, isogenies and cryptologic applications
Ecrypt workshop
July 18th, 2006 — École polytechnique

Registration
Participation is free of charge, but please drop us a line if you
intend to participate so that we can prepare croissants for the
coffee break.
Scope
The workshop will consist of invited talks and informal
discussions. The talks will cover introductory topics, as well as
recent advances in research.
Some familiarity with elliptic curves would certainly be beneficial. Here is
a short list of suggested text books:
- J. Silverman: The arithmetic of elliptic curves (GTM 106,
Springer) -- specialy the material on isogenies.
- D. A. Cox: Primes of the form x^2 + n y^2, John Wiley \& Sons.
- I. Blake, G. Seroussi, N. Smart: Elliptic curves in cryptography
(Cambridge University Press, 1999).

Access
Maps describing the access are
here
or
here for a more detailed one.
All lectures will take place in Amphitheatre Becquerel, in the hall of
the main building close to the central library.
More algorithms to access:
- Take RER B to Lozère: look for the staircase uphill and climb.
Needs some sport. After that, go straight ahead until you find the
annoucements for the workshop with big arrows. See the map for general
directions when you cross the road circling around us.
- Take RER B to Massy Palaiseau, exit on the east (left of the line
when heading south), look for the bus TransEssonne/Albatrans 91/06
(walk on the right after exiting the station, see map),
exit at the second stop in École polytechnique ("Chemin de
Lozère") and look for the arrows for the workshop. Before 9am,
there are plenty of buses. It takes 10 min to reach EP, an ordinary
Paris RATP ticket is needed.
Lunch
No lunch is provided, but it is possible to go to the Ecole restaurant,
and there is a cafeteria close to the amphitheatre.
For any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Looking forward to welcoming you in Paris,
F. Morain (morain@lix.polytechnique.fr)
