Introduction to isogenies and their cryptologic applications

F. Morain

Isogenies play a central role in the Schoof-Elkies-Atkin algorithm (SEA) that computes the cardinality of an elliptic curve over a finite field. They can also be used to determine another invariant of the curve, namely its endomorphism ring. Isogeny classes form graphs that have interesting properties leading to recent cryptologic applications. The aim of the talk is to present some of the preceding ideas, and introduce the other talks of the day.
