Vicky Kalogeiton will be part of the Symposium on Frontiers in Generative AI in the AI Summit (AI, Science and Society) taking place at Ecole polytechnique.

Congratulation to Vicky Kalogeiton who succesfully defended her HDR on Story-level multimodal generativeAI: from understanding to generating visual data using multiple modalities that presented to the jury composed of Raoul de Charette, Dimitris Samaras, Josef Sivic, Matthieu Cord, Juergen Gall, Vincent Lepetit, Elisa Ricci, Jakob Verbeek.

We received three awards at the ACM MIG conference. An Honorable Best Paper mention for the article "TwisterForge: controllable and efficient animation of virtual tornadoes" first authored by Jiong Chen, a Best Short Paper Award for the article "Expressive Animation Retiming from Impulse-Based Gestures" first authored by Marie Bienvenu, a Best Poster Award for "Reactive Gaze during Locomotion in Natural Environments" first authored by Julia Meglare.

We received three awards at the annual French conference of Computer Graphics jFig. An honorable mention for the article "Optimizing Multi-Agent Heard Model from a Single Video" first authored by Xianjin Gong, a first price at the Shader Toy contest awarded to Tara Butler, the price of the public for the Blender Node contest awarded to Théo Cheynel.

We are honoured to received three awards at the SCA conference. Best Paper Honourable Mention, Best Paper Presentation Honourable Mention, Best Poster, including Julia Melgare, Marie-Paule Cani and Damien Rohmer and our collaborators at Inria Sophia Antipolis, PUCRS, Purdue University, Clemson University and Roblox.

Xi Wang presents some of the team's recent result on Generative AI in Visual Computing to the 1st year Polytechniciens students visiting the LIX laboratory.

Paul Boursin was awarded best poster of the MIG conference 2023 (Motion, Interaction and Games) that took place in Rennes from 15-17 November 2023 for his work on Enabling Physical VR Interaction with Deep RL Agents.

Théo Cheynel was awarded second best paper of the JFIG conference 2023 that took place in Montpellier from 8-10 November 2023 for his work on Sparse Motion Sematics for Contact Aware Retargeting.

Damien Rohmer was co-chair of the IMET conference 2023 that took place in Barcelona from 5-6 October 2023.

We received the Best Poster award at the ICCV Workshop CVAAD for our work on Floor Plan Reconstruction from Sparse Views, authored by Arnaud Gueze, Mathieu Ospici (Homiwoo), Damien Rohmer and Marie-Paule Cani.

We welcome Rodrigo Stevenson starting his PhD on the ANR MultiForm for Deforming and Animating Multi-Material Objects using Multi-Valued Field Functions co-advised with Marie-Paule Cani and Damien Rohmer.

We welcome Paul Boursin starting his PhD on a pluridisciplinary project of 3D simulation of paleontholitic mobility co-advised with Marie-Paule Cani and Sophie Grégoire (MNHN).

We welcome Zoe Herson in M1 at ENS ULM to work on physical model in Unity for paleontholitic scenes.

Marie-Paule Cani receives the 2023 ACM SIGGRAPH Coons Award, the most prestigious award in Computer Graphics given by the ACM. She is the second French scientist receiving this price after Pierre Bézier.

Maud Lastic will defend her PhD work on Efficient visual simulation of volcanic phenomena on Monday, 3rd July 2pm in Amphi Sophie Germain.

Congratulations to Marie-Paule Cani who is the recipient of the prestigious ACM SIGGRAPH Steven Anson Coons Award 2023 for her outstanding contributions to computer graphics in shape modeling, computer animation, and content creation tools.

Tim Scheller obtained a Hi! Paris scholarship to pursue his PhD on Capturing 4D plant growth. This PhD will strengthen our projects on Natural Environment modeling and simulation.

We are welcoming Ridouane Ghermi, who starts his PhD with Vicky Kalogeiton on the topic of AI-based requests on movies.

Jiayi Wei will present her work on the use of Line Process for Robust Pointset Denoising at Eurographics.

We are glad to receive James Gain (Cape Town University) as invited professor. James will be in the teamr 3 month to collaborate on natural phenomenon and VR application, in association with his master student James Burnes.

Eduardo Alvarado and Ariel Kwiatkowski are participating to the CLIPE-ITN Workshop in Tubingen. Their work is presented at the FMX2023.

We welcome Pascal Guehl who is joining our team as a research engineer for one year. Pascal got a PhD in interactive material synthesis from University of Strasbourg, and will work in our team on improving the Matisse Software.

We participated to the discussion of the teaching & AI organized at Polytechnique. Vicky Kalogeiton, in collaboration with Michalis Vazirgiannis animated the discussion and presented a demonstration of the use of generative AI such as Chat-GPT in teaching context.

We are glad to start a collaboration with Homiwoo with the co-supervision of the PhD of Arnaud Gueze on the topic of "Reconstructing complex interior scenes from sparse multimodal data".

We wish the best to Vilius Tubinas and Ekaterina Borisova, third year bachelor students who finished their internship in our team. We congratulate Ekaterina Borisova for the presentation of her work to the GTMG workshop.

We are involved in helping the organization of the Hackathon about Sustainable and Ethical Computer Science at Ecole Polytechnique. This hackathon is co-organized by our former Master student Tim Scheller.

We are welcoming Julia K. Melgare, first year PhD at PUCRS in Porto Alegre, who is visiting our team for three weeks to collaborate on human character animation.

We are glad to welcome Xi Wang who is starting his PostDoc with Vicky Kalogeiton on the ANR "WhyBehindScenes" after the obtention of his PhD at Inria Rennes.

Were are participating to the French Workshop on AI & Video Games in presenting the ongoing work from David-Henri Garnier about bio-inspired modeling, and the participation of Marie-Paule Cani to the round table on the link between research and game companies.

We received the good news that the ANR proposal MultiForm will be funded. In collaboration with collegues from IRIT Toulouse (Loic Barthe) and Loria (Cedric Zanni), we will develop novel field-based representation for complex 3D model animation.

Robin Courant received the Best Student Paper Award Honorable Mention at ACCV 2022 for his work on FunnyNet: Audiovisual Learning of Funny moments in Videos done with Zhisong Liu (former PostDoc) and Vicky Kalogeiton. [tweet]

Theo Cheynel is joinging VISTA to start his PhD on "Video-based Generation and Edition of 3D Animated Humanoid Character Preserving Physical Constraints". His PhD is an industrial collaboration with Kinetix.

We will receive Nefeli Andreou in our team for three months from September the 21th to work on learning based character animation. Nefeli is a PhD student from the University of Cyprus, and a Early Stage Researcher part of the European ITN project CLIPE.

Our article on Generate Real-Time Characters Making their way through Dynamic Environments got a honorable best paper award at the Symposium on Computer Animation. This work is part of the European ITN project CLIPE.

Our interdisciplinary research project on "3D simulation of paleolithic mobility" join with paleonthologists from Tautavel received a grant from CNRS Mission for Transversal and Interdisciplinary Initiatives (MITI).

The paper "Acceleration Skinning: Kinematics-Driven Cartoon Effects for Articulated Characters" co-authored by Niranjan Kalyanasudaram (Clemson), Damien Rohmer, and Victor Zordan (Clemson, Roblox) got the Michael Sweeney Award (Best Paper authored by a student) at Graphics Interface 2022.
