Glossary
- direction field:
field of unit vectors obtained at the end of the first step
- velocity: the speed of an animal, in vector form
- speed: the speed of an animal, in scalar form
- orientation/direction: the angle of an animal’s velocity
- change of orientation function:
function whose coefficients are obtained at the end of the orientation analysis;
it maps a density to the standard deviation of a list of angles, ie, an angle
- configuration space:
the set of all the data points previously collected, and made available to us for orientation analysis;
essentially is frame data for animal movement
- average velocity (of a frame):
the mean velocity of all the animals detected in a frame of the
configuration space
