Operations Research Analyst (Air Traffic Management)
Job Highlights 	This opportunity presents you with the challenge of applying your knowledge of data visualization and analytics in a dynamic research environment working for the MITRE Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD). CAASD is dedicated to supporting its Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sponsor and the aviation community through research, development, and evaluation of advanced concepts and evolving capabilities to provide analyses and potential solutions for critical National Airspace System (NAS) issues.
Key Functions 	The successful candidate will be a valuable addition to the Traffic Flow Management (TFM) and Enroute Concepts and Analysis department within MITRE CAASD.

As a MITRE data analyst, you will work with technical team members to help create high quality analyses that provide insight to FAA decision makers, and develop improved metrics and visualizations that better identify performance anomalies and trends. You will analyze aviation data to provide insights that can be used by the FAA to improve their processes and procedures. You will develop briefings and papers for communication of results to the sponsor. You will be expected to work with other team members, and work with and further develop a large integrated Oracle data base of aviation data, as well as use other Hadoop data warehouses.

Candidate will support the FAA by performing data analysis while using a broad spectrum of tools and technologies to meet both internal analysis and external client requirements. Results must be communicated effectively to a wide variety of audiences. Expect a collaborative team environment with self-motivated, highly trained professionals.

Required Skills: 	BS or equivalent with 1+ years of relevant experience

• Experience with analysis and effective visualization of large data sets
• Experience with statistical analysis
• Experience with SQL and use of relational data bases
• Experience with LINUX environment and shell scripting
Preferred Qualifications 	MS desired

Desired skills include experience with a broad range of statistical analysis and data visualization techniques, and an ability to process, filter, explore and visualize large and complex data sets fused from multiple sources.

• Experience with machine learning and similar techniques
• Experience with Python and/or Java
• Experience with PL/SQL
• Experience with Hadoop, Pig, and related technologies
• Experience with Tableau visualization and dashboard development
• Experience with analysis environments such as R, JMP, MATLAB or SAS
• Knowledge of systems engineering or other engineering background a plus
• Knowledge of aviation and aviation weather data a plus
• Knowledge of FAA TFM a plus
