The postdoctoral associate will work in collaboration with the Labs of Peter Clote and of Jean-Marc Steyaert. Peter Clote is Professor of Biology at Boston College and recent recipient of the Digiteo Chair of Excellence for the duration of this RNA-omics project. Jean-Marc Steyaert is Professor of Computer Science at Ecole Polytechnique.
Qualifications: The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. in computational biology/bioinformatics, computer science or related field such as physics, mathematics, as well and familiarity with structural biology. Strong skills in algorithm design and C/C++ implementation and some experience in HTML and CGI scripting are necessary; experience in Python , databases, SQL and open MP are considered a plus.
To Apply: Please send the following items in ONE email to both P. Clote (clote@lix.polytechnique.fr) and J.-M. Steyaert (steyaert@lix.polytechnique.fr):
History: L'Ecole Polytechnique, also known as l'X (due to importance of mathematics in the curriculum), is one of the most eminent science/engineering schools in France, having been founded in 1794. In 1804 Napoleon Bonaparte moved l'X to its location next to the Pantheon on the montagne Sainte-Geneviève in Paris. To allow expansion of facilities, in 1976 l'Ecole Polytechnique moved to its current location in Palaiseau (RER station Lozère) just south of Paris, reachable by rapid urban transport. See http://www.polytechnique.fr/campus/campus.php for directions on how to get to Ecole Polytechnique, and see the access plan of labs to find LIX. The LIX, the Laboratoire d'Informatique a l'X, has various foci in computer science, including bioinformatics, combinatorial optimization, cryptology, combinatorics, etc. The research environment is excellent for strong interdisciplinary work, due to spatial proximity of groups in different areas of science (molecular biology, chemistry, computer science, etc.).
