SFU workgroup on "Random Matrices, Symmetric functions, and Graph enumeration".

The aim of this seminar is to meet once a week (if possible...) taking turns discussing the topics in the title, which have a common intersection. The talks can be up to 1:30 hour long (but they don't have to), and a given subject can be split into several talks if more time is needed.
Time and place: Tuesday, 9:30-11:00, room 9509 .

Program:

  • April 14: Marni Mishna.
The longest increasing subsequence - a survey.
  • March 31: Adolfo Rodríguez.
    Determinants and Non-Crossing Paths.
  • March 24: Karen Yeats.
The five invariant -- or my previous lecture said with matrices instead of pictures.
  • March 17: Karen Yeats.
    Cancelled.
  • March 3: Guillaume Chapuy.
Maps and matrix integrals III: the generating series of planar maps (physicists approach via orthogonal polynomials). Higher genera if we have time.
  • Feb 16: Karen Yeats.
    Path integrals, Polylogs, Spanning Forests.
  • Feb 2: Guillaume Chapuy.
Maps and Matrix Integrals II: Orthogonal Polynomials.

    The path integral.
  • January 19: Guillaume Chapuy.
Maps and Matrix Integrals I: gluings.

Organisers: G. Chapuy and M. Mishna.
