Spring 2000, CSE 428: About Midterm 2

Logistical info

The MT 2 will take place on the following dates
- Thursday March 30, 4:00-5:15 pm in 260 Willard (After class. During 2:30-3:45 pm there will be a regular 428 class.)
- Tuesday April 4, 2:30-3:45 pm in 260 Willard (in-class).
You can choose the date you prefer and don't need to notify me.
In case you are a student of CSE 471, want to take the exam in March 30, and have a conflict at the proposed time (after class), you can take the exam in the same day (March 30) before class, i.e. during 1:00-2:15, in 101 Osmond. Please note that you have this option only in case of real conflict. And please, send me a notification, if you choose this option, by Wednesday March 29.

It is a "closed book" exam.

The exam will be on the material presented during classes 13-20 (i.e. the classes from Tuesday February 22 till Thursday March 23 included).

Format of the exam

The exam will consists of a list of questions. You should write the answers on the same sheets. There is no need to justify your answer, unless it is explicitly requested in the text of the question.

Bonus for "no answer"

If you don't know the solution to one question, you may choose to give "no answer" by leaving blank the space for the solution. For each question to which you give no answer you will receive a bonus of 10% of the maximum score for that question, rounded to the next higher integer score. If you start writing the answer, and later you wish you had left it blank, just draw a line over your answer and write the word "BLANK" in large letters.

Preparation for the midterm

A test is posted here. This test will not be graded, but you are encouraged to try to solve it by yourself as a preparation to the MT exam. The MT will have the same kind of questions as the test. The class of Tuesday March 28 will be dedicated to explaining and discussing the solution of the test.
